Shaving Your Legs Is Dumb
Who Made This A “Thing”?

I admit it, I hate shaving my legs. I curse who ever invented it any time I do.
Which isn’t often. I only shave when I feel like shaving.
Oh sure, when I was single and looking to get some, I’d shave everything daily. Even when my boyfriend and I first go together I would shave often until one day I grumbled about it,
“I HATE shaving my legs!”
“So don’t. I don’t care. It’s your body.”
Good. Because I don’t tell him how to shave his face (please keep your facial hair, please keep your facial hair)!
I had to go look this up because it irritated me so much. Who decided we had to shave our body hair but men don’t have to? The answer: razor companies.
Women weren’t buying razors because they had no use for them. So razor companies decided to give them a reason to buy them.
You aren’t shaving your face? Well you should be shaving all your body hair!
You can also thank Harper’s Bazar for making this a “thing”. This article does a good job of going of the history of how ads in magazines convinced women that body hair was gross.
I admit, it does look better to have shaved legs. My mother would be SHOCKED to know how infrequently I actually shave. I just hate doing it so much that I sort of just…stopped doing it.
Don’t worry, I shave my chin hair every night though (shut up).
