I relate well to this after 2 toxic relationships. After the last I told myself I would never allow someone to be in my life unless they actually bring more enjoyment in my life.

I built myself a safe place and I only allow people in who don’t take away my contentment in life. If they add to it, even better.

Watch for the red flags and don’t ignore them. Don’t brush off bad feelings thinking things will change. If you aren’t happy with the person as they are RIGHT now, then end it. People don’t want to be changed.

And, most importantly, be honest with what you want. But take it slow so you can learn to build up trust with the other person.
