If you run a business or offer a service, you know you need to get yourself out there in order to generate leads. There are many ways to do this of course, but the best way to do this in today’s market is through Facebook Marketing.

By creating a business page, you can let consumers know what you have to offer. Setting up the page is easy to do and Facebook gives you step by step instructions on how to get your page off the ground. It doesn’t cost anything to set up a Facebook business page.

- There are literally millions of people on Facebook every day and it is a platform that is easy to use. People are able to search for pages that they would like to find. When they perform a search, your business page will come up as a result.

— It is great for telling people who you are and what you offer. Facebook even has a way for clients to order your services directly from your Facebook Business Page. When someone “likes” your page, they will be able to see anything you post, from offers to news.

— This can help create organic traffic to your website. People who find you on Facebook can then visit your business website and conduct their business there. You also have an option of including a phone number where they can reach you. It’s a very good way to get website views and clicks.

— A great feature is the chat button. You can interact with potential clients using this feature. Your Facebook business page is also a great place to post offers, services, news, or any other information you want all of your followers to know about your business.

So your page gets a lot of “likes”. Excellent! But are these likes just from your family and friends who are trying to support you or are you attracting people who could become potential clients? Probably just your family and friends right?

So how do you get your business page out there to the RIGHT people? How about targeted adds?

You might notice after you have set up your Facebook Business page that they encourage you to place an add. These targeted adds are an inexpensive way to get your product or services out to the masses. Facebook marketing can get you loads of leads that can turn into paying customers. It’s all in how you use it. It is a great tool to use to target the people you want to reach.

Placing the add is relatively easy to do. You can spend as little or as much as you want on the add, depending on a few different things.

  • How long you want the add to run.
  • Who you want to target (how far the add will reach)
  • What you want the clients to do with your add (contact you, go to your site, comment, etc.)

Facebook adds are an amazing marketing tool because, for a few dollars, you can reach your target audience with an add that is shown to the people who are most likely to click on your add and drive traffic to your website.

It’s important to keep in mind that Facebook can be a bit picky with their algorithms. It might take you a few tries to actually get an add that is targeted to the right people. So, you really need to think about WHO you want to target.

  • Who is most likely to buy your product or service?
  • Where do they live?
  • How old are they?
  • What types of things are the interested in?
  • What jobs do they do?

There is a way to integrate all of this into your add. Facebook also makes it easy to manage these adds. The “Facebook Adds Manager” will become your friend. You can start and stop your adds as needed, change the settings on them, and play around with them until you find the magic formula to create real leads.

It’s also important to keep in mind that these adds take a lot of trial and error. There are a lot of experts out there who know how to target the right people for your add. It’s not just about putting up an add and hoping people see it.

Think about this, let’s say you are a dog walker and you want to offer your service. Where might be the best place to post a flyer? Probably not the dentist office. There might be people there that have dogs, but chances are, not too many. Wouldn’t posting the flyer at a pet store be a better option? Yep. You’re more likely to get people with dogs to look at your flyer and consider you.

Facebook adds are the same. They place your add in front of people as they scroll through their news feed. In front of people who will WANT to see your add. Is a 23 year old guy who plays video games going to want to see an add for a new spa treatment with free manicure included? Naw, probably not. But he will probably click on an add that is advertising a new used video game store right? There’s a good chance he will.

Facebook is an amazing tool for small businesses that want to get seen but don’t have a ton of money to spend on marketing. The business pages are free to set up and the adds can be placed for a minimal cost. It is very user friendly and can serve your business well when used the correct way.
